MINORS: Who to watch in the 2014 College World Series

Every year, the eight teams left standing in the NCAA Baseball Tournament meet in Omaha, NE, to play in the College World Series. It’s odd timing for many teams as it falls just a week after the Major League First Year Player Draft, where almost without exception each participating team had several players picked. This year, the eight teams in Omaha had from four to nine players selected in the draft, and had a combined 50 players picked. That included three first-rounders and 26 players picked in the draft’s first 10 rounds.

There’s not space to examine all 50, but I did list every 2014 draftee (with round and team in parenthesis) and talked about a few notables from each squad. I’ll also give a glimpse at some players to keep an eye...
