In amateur scouting parlance, a "follow" is a player that an area scout identifies early on in the scouting cycle, and then makes a priroity to check in on his progress—usually in-person—as the draft draws nearer. Terming the player a "follow" is the first step that could end up with the player being selected by that major league club.
