2024 Draft: Scouting Round One

Welcome to BaseballHQ’s coverage of the 2024 MLB draft. Compared to last year’s draft, which saw Paul Skenes get selected with the 1st overall pick, this draft is extremely shallow. Last year’s top 5 picks are far superior in talent and upside than the top available prospects this year. Still, there is quality at the top half of the first round and more speculative picks filling out the last 10 to 15 picks. In other words, the names called towards the end of the round are likely first rounders only in this year’s draft.
