The Rays recalled the 26-year-old from Triple-A and he’ll serve in a backup capacity despite his sub-par start to the 2016 campaign. Motter is in his second season in Triple-A and his best asset is his ability to play multiple positions. He’s played every position but catcher and pitcher in his career and has seen most of his action at SS in 2016. He’s also played 2B, 3B and RF this year.
