With Travis d’Arnaud out of the lineup due to a hand injury, the Mets summoned 24-year-old Plawecki from Triple-A and he’ll serve as the everyday catcher. Plawecki, a right-handed hitter, has advanced and developed quickly since his selection in the supplemental first round of the 2012 draft. He is an excellent, instinctive hitter with a level swing path and a mature approach at the plate. He makes very easy contact with a simple stroke and rarely swings and misses.
