RESEARCH: Surprisingly Productive Years, Part 2 (Pitchers)

 

Last week, we looked at the pool of undrafted batters in both AL/NL only leagues and mixed leagues, and created a methodology to estimate their value based on each batter's projected skills and potential playing time. This week, we’ll do the same with pitchers.

Methodology

The methodology used for pitchers will be very similar to that of batters, with a few tweaks due to the differences in inputs between batters and pitchers:

We will consider all starters projected for less than 10% of his team’s innings pitched (about 140 innings) and all relief pitchers projected for less than 4% of his team’s innings pitched (about 50 innings)) according to BaseballHQ.com’s playing time projections.
