SPECULATOR: Forget playing time

Projections are hard enough. Projecting playing time in December? Pfft!

We basically say as much on the release page for our 2019 projections, which were rolled out on the site last Friday, 12/14. From the section on How the Projections are Created:

The more difficult part of the process is assessing playing time (PT). PT expectations are fluid, changing constantly based on what we expect to happen on any given day.

Newsflash: players get hurt—Ron Shandler's intro in the 2019 Baseball Forecaster states that 60% of the Top 300 players ended up on the shelf in 2018. Tack on slumps, demotions, trades, etc., and no matter how blocked a player might seem, drafting skills over roles is always the prudent bet (see: Aguilar, Jesus; ca. April...
