Anyone who has owned Salvador Perez in a fantasy league has experienced his second half drop off. Almost like clockwork, around the All-Star game he transforms from an elite catcher to a normal crappy catcher. Last season, his first-half OPS went from .775 to .636 in the second. In 2016, it was .726 to .680. The year before that, .765 to .595. The main reason attributed for the decline is catching a high number of games. Over the three seasons, Perez's total is 408 games, 29 more games than Yadier Molina. So does playing an entire season wear down a player? Probably not.
