The Diamondbacks indicated earlier this month that 24-year-old Ketel Marte (SS, ARI) would be in line for the lion’s share of at-bats at 2B—as opposed to SS, where he most frequently played (57 starts) last season. With the trade of Brandon Drury (2B, NYY) and the recent 5-year extension he signed with the club, Marte’s stranglehold on the position seems more secure than ever.

From a skills perspective, the switch-hitting Marte made substantial plate-discipline gains in 2017—with career-highs in bb% (11%), ct% (83%) and Eye (.78), while displaying roughly league-average pop (95 HctX) in 223 at-bats.
