A number of players have taken advantage of the World Baseball Classic to showcase their skills in a more competitive environment than traditional spring training games, which could have the potential of leading to additional playing time in the upcoming regular season. The opposite has been true for Daniel Bard (LHP, COL), who has surrendered eight earned runs across 1.2 innings (excluding any appearance in the championship game) while walking four and striking out two as a member of Team USA. Manager Bud Black has already said he won’t let that performance influence a potential change at closer for the Rockies,  but Bard’s performance has to bring some concern for two reasons.
