Rumors are once again swirling around Jonathan Papelbon (RHP, PHI). The 34-year-old has had another fine season, showing his best skills since 2012. It’s no wonder that contenders in need of a closer are reportedly interested despite his pricey contract. He is owed a $13 million option that automatically vests if he finishes 55 games in 2015 or 100 games in 2014-15 and avoids a trip to the disabled list with an elbow or shoulder injury. He finished 52 games in 2014 and has finished 29 so far in 2015.

If Papelbon leaves town, Ken Giles (RHP, PHI) is expected to take over closer duties. The 24-year-old hasn’t been able to maintain the improved control he showed in 2014 (5.4 Ctl in 140.2 career IP in the minors; 2.2...
