Manager Dusty Baker created a bit of a stir recently when he stated that Koda Glover (RHP, WAS) was very much in the mix to be the team’s closer.  When we last covered this situation back in late January, we mentioned that Glover could eventually wind up in the role, but that Shawn Kelley (RHP, WAS) and Blake Treinen (RHP, WAS) seemed to be ahead of him in the pecking order.

Glover, 24, has had a fine spring. However, we would suggest that it’s unwise to get too carried away with his spring numbers. For one thing, it’s never a great idea to put a ton of stock in spring stats. But in Glover’s case, one must also consider that a large chunk of his spring outings have come in the ninth inning—a time when MLB...
