Tanner Roark (RHP, WAS) and Taylor Jordan (RHP, WAS) are still fighting for the fifth starter job. Both Roark (13.2 IP, 11 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 11 K) and Jordan (20.2 IP, 24 H, 9 ER, 2 BB, 20 K) have pitched well enough to earn the job. Jordan’s improved off-speed offerings have really made a significant impact this spring. It appears that the loser of the Roark/Jordan competition for fifth starter will open the season at Triple-A Syracuse. 

Aaron Barrett (RHP, WAS) has reportedly been told that he has earned a job in the bullpen. He had been competing with Ryan Mattheus (RHP, WAS), Xavier Cedeño (LHP, WAS) and Mike Gonzalez (LHP, FAN ) for the last spot in the pen. Mattheus and Cedeno were optioned to Triple-A and...
