The name Dansby Swanson (SS, ATL) may evoke a dashing lad on Bridgerton gallivanting all over Regency era London in a waistcoat and breeches, but he’s very much the Braves’ shortstop of the moment. The former first overall draft pick had a rather splendid 2020 on both sides of the ball, providing excellent defense (10 DRS) and breaking out at the plate: .274/.345/.464, 49 R, 10 HR, 35 RBI, 5 SB. While his 35% H% and .243 xBA suggest that the average should come down, the power (134 xPX, 110 HctX) was indeed real. While Swanson may be a cut or two below the glut of premium SS at the top of 2021 draft boards, he provides a very solid fallback to fantasy GMs willing to wait on the position or looking to fill an MI early.
