Jack Flaherty (RHP, STL) has begun a rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis, which is the big news out of St. Louis in the past week. He threw 35 pitches in his opening appearance but completed only one inning, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits. According to Katie Woo of The Athletic, Flaherty is set to make his next rehab outing Tuesday with the goal of reaching 45 pitches. As indicated by his limited workload increase, the Cardinals intend to take things slowly with Flaherty as he attempts to return from shoulder stiffness for the second time this season. Given the apparent tension between general manager John Mozeliak and the team’s ace -- Mozeliak blamed Flaherty for deviating from the team’s plans...
