PT TOMORROW: AL West—Mess in Texas?

Texas Rangers

Texas is an AL West club that has been making noise about a six-man rotation, and a quick glance at the possibilities explains why. Because beyond Cole Hamels, big problems and question marks abound.

Lining up behind Hamels are Matt Moore (LHP, TEX), Doug Fister (RHP, TEX) and Mike Minor (LHP, TEX), all of whom are throwing well in camp to date. But Moore was awful last year (5.52/5.15 ERA/xERA over 31 starts) even while pitching half of his games in one of the most pitching-friendly NL parks; we don't see the 1.4 hr/9 and 3.5 Ctl improving in Arlington. Similarly the 34-year-old Fister (4.88/4.23 ERA/xERA) is giving up more HR and walks than he once did, and owns a D Health grade.
