Mgr Joe Maddon sinned egregiously by publicly suggesting that Mike Trout (OF, LAA) would move to LF to accommodate the defensive skills of Brandon Marsh (OF, LAA), apparently without discussing it with his superstar first. Maddon backtracked shortly afterward when Trout told everyone that he was staying in CF and working on improving his reads and jumps. Translated: This change won't take place until a healthy Trout realizes that he's not the defensive equal of Marsh, which still seems likely to happen at some point in-season or the beginning of 2023. Regardless, it's clear that Trout will move only when he's ready.
