PT TOMORROW: AL East—Kim’s time may have come in BAL

After reportedly being on the roster bubble late in spring training, Hyun Soo Kim (OF, BAL) has gradually worked his way back into the team’s good graces. Kim made five straight starts May 25-29, and headed into the May 29 game 17-for-44 (.386) on the season.

Kim has benefited from a 46% hit rate, which won’t last. He is making good contact (122 HCtX) but hitting the ball on the ground two-thirds of the time and thus has offered next to nothing in the power department, just three doubles, two of which came on May 25.

Some of Baltimore’s warming to Kim likely has to do with the cooling bat of Joey Rickard (OF, BAL). Rickard’s average sat at .350 on April 21, but he has posted a .198/.276/.297 slash line in 124 PA...
