PT TOMORROW: AL East —Orioles look for second baseman

Baltimore Orioles

The work of Ryan Flaherty (2B, BAL) at both third and second base this spring may speak both to a pessimistic view of the Opening Day availability of Manny Machado (3B, BAL) and—though more of a stretch—perhaps a hope that someone other than Flaherty will seize the team’s 2B job.

As noted here last week, Jonathan Schoop (2B, BAL) is off to a better start (5-for-9, 2 2B, HR) than his primary competitor, Jemile Weeks (2B, BAL) (2-for-13, 2 SB), but Weeks’ activity on the basepaths speaks to the interest he would pique as a fantasy commodity. Meanwhile, yet another candidate for at least a utility role, Alexi Casilla (2B, BAL), may return to action soon after missing time with a hamstring injury.
