Manager Robin Ventura's 2016 spring training message to his players reportedly had a different tone than years past, with a focus on defensive fundamentals and offensive pressure with speed. J.B. Shuck (OF, CHW) rebounded from an awful 2014 (.145 BA, .216 xBA) to record a .266 BA (.273 xBA) in 2015. He was limited to 143 AB due to a hamstring injury and CHW's late-season audition of Trayce Thompson (OF, LA), but a December 2015 trade of Thompson to LA makes Shuck's path to the 4th OF slot clearer.
