Despite being right in the thick of the division race, the front office had an eye towards the future at the trade deadline. They traded away Aaron Civale, Josh Bell, and Amed Rosario, and the only major leaguer they got in return was Noah Syndergaard (RHP, CLE).

Kyle Manzardo (1B, CLE) was the biggest name the team acquired, and while he may not be up until 2024, having Bell out of the picture greatly improves his chances for a 2023 debut. Bell started 66 games at DH and leaves a potential void at that spot, though for now the team will likely rotate a number of players there, and even give José Ramirez (3B, CLE), Josh Naylor (1B, CLE), and Bo Naylor (C, CLE) some days off in the field while keeping them in the...
