We talked in this space about the Twins recalling Alex Kirilloff (LF, MIN) and now that he’s back up, he’s even more valuable with Jorge Polanco (2B, MIN) hitting the IL with lower-back tightness. This is Polanco’s first-ever trip to the IL. Polanco’s MRI didn’t show any major concerns, so he should be back with the team after his 10-day minimum. So what do the Twins do in the meantime to fill the playing time opening?

Kirilloff’s value will pay off immediately as he should pick up the majority of PT at 1B, which allows Luis Arraez (2B, MIN), who had been getting the 1B starts for Minnesota, to slide over to second base.
