Opportunities in the Dodgers Rotation

The Dodgers have gotten off to a 12-9 start, but beyond Tyler Glasnow and Yoshinobu Yamamoto there are considerable question marks about their starting rotation. The staff has endured a few key injuries that have provided the opportunity for players to step up and carve out roles.

Veteran lefty James Paxton is 2-0 in three starts with a 2.81 ERA in 16 IP. However, his underlying metrics (6.29 xERA, 20% BB%, 9.0% SwK% and a fastball that is down almost two mph from last season) and a long injury history don’t bode well for him being able to be effective over 25-30 starts.
