After starting 60 of the Rockies first 80 games, 1B Elehuris Montero's dismal offensive production finally caught up with him when the team needed to clear a roster spot for C Elias Díaz. After a promising finish to the 2023 season, Montero was given every opportunity to become a permanent fixture in the Rockies lineup via the multiple stints on the IL for 1B Kris Bryant. But he got off to a slow start (.221/.274/.314 over 95 PA in March and April) and never got on track. After hitting just .164/.212/.262 and seeing his K% spike to 32% in June, he was designated for assignment by the Rockies on June 30.
