NL West: Early season observations

Colorado Rockies

The Rockies headed into spring training with several players vying for time at 1B and DH and in RF, with the possibility that several players would see part-time roles. Through five games it appears as though the Rockies currently plan to give a combination of Charlie Blackmon, Kris Bryant and Elehuris Montero most of the time at those three positions, with Michael Toglia and Jake Cave seeing occasional time at all three positions.

Despite Rockies manager Bud Black indicating that Blackmon would be the Rockies primary DH this season, he has started in RF in three of the Rockies first five games and at DH in one game. This has allowed Bryant and Montero to largely share 1B and DH to start the season, with Bryant appearing...
