DIVISIONAL OUTLOOK: AL East—Odorizzi gets a shot

Jake Odorizzi (RHP, TAM) will get the call May 20 to fill in for David Price (LHP, TAM). Odorizzi will be pitching on regular rest, which may have factored into the decision. But Odorizzi has outperformed his chief competitor Chris Archer (RHP, TAM) via slight advantages in Ctl, Dom and Cmd (47/15 K/BB in 44 2/3 IP for Odorizzi vs. 40/19 K/BB in 39 IP for Archer).

Of course, unlike Odorizzi, Archer has 29 IP worth of a track record handling major-league hitters, which might be enough for Archer to get the call if Odorizzi takes his lumps in his initial MLB action.

Meanwhile, a third talented young pitcher, 24-year-old Alex Colome (RHP, TAM), should not be overlooked, given that his Dom is higher and Cmd right on par...
