AL East: Simpson overcoming speed bump

Chandler Simpson was one of the most divisive players within the fantasy baseball community throughout draft season, as his extreme stolen base and batting average upside paired with his complete lack of power split fantasy managers on his valuation. Simpson has lived up to his billing in terms of his lack of offensive punch (0 HR, 30 PX), but his batting average (.277, 37th among qualified MLB hitters) and stolen base total (21, t-6th in MLB), while helpful to fantasy managers, have not been the extreme outliers those who drafted him were hoping for.

Simpson’s season has also challenged the adage that “speed doesn’t slump,” as his wheels hit an extreme speed bump on the bases for a period of over a month. From May...
