AL East: Mayo eyes a regular role

While the 2025 HQ100’s #5 prospect Coby Mayo has been on Baltimore’s active roster since May 31, a promotion that coincided with an injury to Ryan Mountcastle, his playing time since the promotion has been sporadic. In this time, Mayo has started 25 of Baltimore’s 50 games and has been largely relegated to a weak-side platoon role, with 16 of his 25 starts coming against left-handed pitching.

Leading up to the trade deadline, Mayo has started to see an uptick in playing time. This could be a precursor to an extended opportunity as the team trades away pieces and looks towards the future.
