NEWS: New York SS Anthony Volpe has made the Opening Day roster and is expected to serve as the team’s starting shortstop.

BHQ SPIN: Volpe outperformed fellow shortstop prospect Oswald Peraza, who was optioned to AAA-Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on March 26. In the spring, Volpe was 16-for-52 (.308) with 3 HR and went 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts, while Peraza only hit .190. While Peraza is out of the picture, last year’s starting shortstop, IF Isiah Kiner-Falefa, is still around, though he is expected to serve in a utility role.
