NEWS: Washington activated righty reliever Tanner Rainey off the 60-day IL.

BHQ SPIN: Rainey had been out since July of 2022 after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Before that, he had been Washington’s primary closer for the first half of the campaign, saving 12 games with a 3.30 ERA, but 4.15 xERA. He saw action on Saturday, pitching a scoreless inning giving up a hit and a walk. The Nationals made room for Rainey by placing Robert Garcia on the paternity list.
