New diagnosis ends Walker's season
Neil Walker (2B, PIT) will not play again in 2012 following diagnosis of a herniated disc in his back. Walker was limited to 26 AB since August 26 by lingering back stiffness, a mysterious ailment which had previously defied detection.
The injury cut short Walker's strong second half, which lifted his overall 2012 production and skills to levels comparable to 2010-11. Walker's second-half 140 PX and .283 xBA were marked improvements on his first-half 75 PX and .244 xBA, allowing him to finish with 102 PX and .261 xBA.
Walker's overall skills showed only marginal change from previous seasons. His 80 Spd suggests waning wheels, while his contact skill slippage, from 81% ct%...
