PLAYING TIME: Left field up for grabs in Toronto

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Thames, Snider battling for left field job

Eric Thames (OF, TOR) and Travis Snider (OF, TOR) find themselves battling for the starting left field job this spring. Thames held the every day job during the second half of last season, during which time he hit .255 with 11 home runs. He possesses plus power, as shown by last year's 133 PX, but mediocre walk and contact rates held him to just a .306 on-base-percentage.

As for Snider, he entered last year, his age 23 season, with a .255/.318/.446 batting line, along with 25 home runs, in 612 career at-bats. He was expected to be a strong power source for the Blue Jays, but instead he found himself back in the minors after hitting .187 with one home run in 87 April...
