Jays finally turn to Villanueva

With their rotation suffering significant attrition throughout the month of June, Toronto has been scrambling for starting pitching. Some 10 days ago in this space, Chris Mallonee profiled the choice between Jesse Chavez and Carlos Villanueva (RHP, TOR) as options to replace the just-disabled Drew Hutchison. The Jays ended up opting for Chavez, who was ineffective in two starts (10 ER in 8.2 IP), so now they are turning to Villanueva to take the next turn in that rotation spot, with Chavez moving back to the bullpen. Villanueva will make his first start of the season on Friday night vs. Anaheim.
