Sabathia, Pettitte hit DL
The New York Yankees lost 40% of their starting rotation on Wednesday as both CC Sabathia (LHP, NYY) and Andy Pettitte (LHP, NYY) landed on the DL. Sabathia suffered a right groin strain in the fourth inning of his start on Sunday. After a bullpen session on Tuesday, he told the Yankees about the injury. It's not a serious strain, and he's expected to miss the minimum, returning right after the All Star break. Pettitte was hit by a liner in the fifth inning of Wednesday's start, resulting in a fractured ankle. He's expected to miss at least six weeks, and one source predicted he would be out two months.
