Francisco next closer down
Frank Francisco (RHP, NYM) was held out of Wednesday's game with elbow tendinitis. An MRI revealed no structural damage but he's expected to miss at least a few days and possibly more. Francisco has logged 23 saves in 2013 with only mediocre BPI (4.21 xERA, 2.2 Cmd, 70 BPV).
Sure enough, the Mets had a save chance on Wednesday, and manager Terry Collins chose to go with rookie Josh Edgin (LHP, NYM) with the Mets up 2-1. The choice was disastrous—Edgin gave up a two-out walk to Chase Utley and a HR to Ryan Howard, and ended up taking the loss.
