NEWS: Chicago acquired 3B Isaac Paredes from Tampa Bay in exchange for 3B Christopher Morel, RHP Hunter Bigge, and RHP Ty Johnson.
IMPACT: High
BHQ SPIN: Chicago traded away Morel, who had been in a regular role splitting time between third base and designated hitter, as well as two prospects, Bigge and Johnson, in exchange for Paredes. The expectation is that Paredes will fill a regular role similar to Morel’s. However, given the fact that he is a superior defender to Morel, Chicago is more likely to slot Paredes in at third base regularly, opening up the designated hitter spot on most days. Paredes spending more time at third base than designated hitter should give Mike Tauchman a clear path to at-bats...
