NEWS: The Phillies signed Whit Merrifield to a contract that guarantees him approximately $8 million.

BHQ SPIN: Merrifield split his time equally between second base and the outfield in 2023. However, the presence of Bryson Stott at second suggests he will be playing the outfield much more often in Philadelphia. That’s especially true with Brandon Marsh already dinged and the inexperienced Johan Rojas penciled in as the centerfielder.
