G. Sánchez ready for more time in Baltimore

NEWS: Baltimore placed C Adley Rutschman on the 10-Day IL and recalled C Maverick Handley from AAA-Norfolk.
IMPACT: High
BHQ SPIN:  After being scratched from Friday’s lineup due to side discomfort that flared up during batting practice, Rutschman underwent an MRI on Saturday and was diagnosed with an oblique strain. More clarity on the severity of the strain and Rutschman’s return timeline should be known in the next several days. Rutschman’s absence should allow Gary Sánchez to take over as the team’s starting catcher. In a corresponding move, Baltimore recalled Handley, who is expected to fill a role as Sánchez’s backup.
