NEWS: Esmerlyn Valdez is seizing an opportunity in Pittsburgh.

BHQ SPIN: After riding the Triple-A shuttle most of the season, Valdez is getting another chunk of playing time thankt to Spencer Horwitz’s injury, and taking advantage in a big way: he’s homered in four straight starts. He has a window through the All Star Break, after which the Pirates hope to activate Horwitz and O’Neil Cruz. With Marcell Ozuna continuing to struggle and the club rotating the DH spot, there’s opportunity for Valdez even after Horwitz and Cruz return. For now, we’ve bumped his PT% by an additional 10%, to 55% total.
