DAILY MATCHUPS: Going Gio-fanalytical

As a way to preview the day's games, the 2014 Daily Matchups column seeks to highlight the outliers or notable matchups on the HQ Pitcher Matchup tool (also available as an 8-day scan). For more information on how to leverage the report, see our research article from 2012.

Today’s schedule overview:  A full slate is on hand for the first Sunday of the second half. The Reds and Yankees play the day’s lone interleague game at Yankee Stadium, and LA is at STL in the one night game. Weather forecasts call for drying conditions in spots peppered by rain the past couple of days. Also in the forecast is a slew of southpaws—no less than 11 lefties are scheduled to start on Sunday.
