DAILY MATCHUPS: Framber returns to a great matchup in Oakland

Today's Overview/Schedule/Weather. We have a full day of action, starting with a Wrigley matinee between the Cardinals and Cubs. We’ve been dodging rain all week and will need to do so in the Northeast again today. There are a few aces pitching today, but for the most part, it is average pitching at best, leading to many totals over nine runs.

Framber Valdez had his recent start pushed back to an injury, but he’s good to go now in a great matchup versus the A’s. Valdez allowed five earned runs in his last start, which is the most in any start this season, but he did strikeout 13, which is also the most in any start. He’ll face an A’s team who is striking out 25.5% of the time versus LHP while hitting .215 with a .162...
