Each year we discuss Strat-O-Matic’s online game to give you insightful analysis as you manage a salary cap to assemble your best team. Recently, the game engine moved from The Sporting News to Strat’s own site at www.strat-o-matic.com. 

Basics

As you begin to wrestle with an entire league full of eligible players, let’s review some basic rules of thumb that will help you identify those players who will perform best for the dollar.

First, remember the game uses 2011 stats, not current ones. So Colby Rasmus (OF, TOR) will not hit 16 first half homers.
