While pitchers and catchers have just reported, simulation general managers remain hard at work preparing draft lists and strategies. This year’s draft pool offers plenty of keeper shortstops and older outfielders, but few first, second, or third basemen.

Rarely have we seen such a crop of long-term shortstops in one draft. We assume that Manny Machado (3B, BAL) will eventually move to short and consensus top prospect Jurickson Profar (SS, TEX) meets your league’s draft eligibility requirement. But even beyond them, the field remains deep.
