ALTERNATIVE: 2018 Points leagues draft guide—Hitters

In preparing for our annual Points Leagues draft guide, we found a startling revelation: outside of catcher, outfielders represent the scarcest batting position in five-outfielder leagues. It seems the power explosion of 2017 resulted more from infielders while the increased emphasis on defensive outfield speed has kept outfielder power numbers normalized.

We will assume a 12-team mixed league and focus on the basic scoring system for our analysis: a point for each total base, run scored, RBI, walk and stolen base. Points leagues feature several iterations of other categories, negative points, fractional points, etc., but for our preparation purposes here, we find simpler is better.
