STARTERS: Early 2013 Speculations

If you play in a deep league and already have eyes towards 2013, this article is for you.

Here are a bunch of under-the-radar starting pitchers in each league who could be intriguing speculative plays in 2013.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Henderson Alvarez (RHP, TOR) came into 2012 as a prime sleeper target. He posted a 3.53 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 102 BPV in 64 IP with TOR in the 2H of 2011. He hasn't found the same success with his fastball this season, which is why his Dom has plummeted. There is reason for optimism though. His average fastball velocity of 93.3 mph is unchanged from 2011 and remains one of the better marks in the AL. He remains an elite groundballer. And he's just 22.
