With spring training games around the corner, let's take a closer look at some starting pitchers that are worth following in the spring due to the strong skills they flashed in the recent past.
 

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Shane Baz (RHP, TAM) had better stats (3.06 ERA, 1.06 WHIP) than skills (75 BPV) on his road back in 2024 from 2023 elbow surgery. Still, Baz's command underpinnings were strong, and he looked like a budding upper-rotation arm before going under the knife. A low 8% K-BB% against LHers in 2024 kept him inconsistent. Monitor his command against lefty bats this spring, as it might foreshadow whether a breakout is in the cards.
