BATTERS: BPV leaders, April 2022

April was a hard month for batters. Let's start by figuring out why, then we'll identify the hitters whose skills allowed them to overcome those obstacles.

Batters posted a .231 BA on average during April 2022, a mark that was 17 points lower than the average batting average posted by hitters during the prior 18 months:

The dip in batting average contributed to the overall loss of production we saw from hitters in April:

That said, these declines weren't driven by batters not hitting the ball as hard as they have in the past. In fact, the average exit velocity we saw in April was a tick higher than what we saw in the last few months of 2021:
