After posting a 3.20 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP and 174 strikeouts in 186 IP in 2022, Logan Gilbert (RHP, SEA) has not been content with his 2022 arsenal. The right-hander has introduced the split-finger fastball with a 10.4% usage through six games. (as seen below)

How is Gilbert using the new pitch and how effective is it as part of his pitch mix?

He has used it 71% of the time versus LHH, as he has thrown 46 split-finger fastballs to LHH and 19 to RHH. With the objective to keep it away from LHH and diving out of the zone, it has been effective in creating whiffs, as he has a 43.8% K% vs. LHH with his splitter.
