MINORS: Statistical deep dives: Ryan Clifford and Blake Walston

So far this season, I’ve spent most of my attention checking out leaderboards of various minor league stats. While this can be a fruitful activity, it helps to dig deeper on individual players to try to get a fuller picture. I’ve selected two players of interest for statistical deep dives: Ryan Clifford and Blake Walston. (Note: All stats are calculated as of 6/24/2023).

Ryan Clifford (OF/1B, HOU) - Clifford was a highly-ranked 2022 high-school draftee who fell to the Astros in the 11th round likely due to signability concerns. To some surprise, he ended up signing with Houston to forego his commitment to Vanderbilt. The Astros thought highly of him from the jump, promoting him to Single-A during his draft year...
