MINORS: The Eyes have it—Portland and Akron (AA)

One of my favorite parks in the minor leagues is in downtown Akron, Ohio. Canal Park is an underrated park with great sight lines and a nice view of a modest downtown. I generally attend a few games per season in Akron, but I was very intrigued when the Indians promoted Bradley Zimmer from High-A in July. The Rubber Ducks generally field some nice prospects and Zimmer is as good as any, including Francisco Lindor

Here are some observational notes on a few prospects:

Sam Travis (1B, BOS) – The 21-year-old is progressing rapidly after he began the 2015 season in High-A before his promotion to Double-A in June. He was a second round pick in the 2014 draft out of Indiana and he looks the part of both a natural hitter and grinder. He...
